Welcome—I’m so glad you’re here.
Dr. Christyn Hosking, PsyD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist | Trauma Specialist | Advocate for Healing and Equity
(Telehealth therapy available throughout Michigan and select PsyPact states.)
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist and have trained and worked in diverse settings—including hospitals, community clinics, trauma recovery centers, and private practice—giving me the privilege of supporting diverse folx through a wide range of challenges. I specialize in trauma recovery, complex PTSD, dissociation, grief and loss, mood disorders, identity and relationship challenges, and managing shame, guilt and moral injury, as well as the intersection of these challenges with multiple diverse identities, neurodivergence, LGBTQ+, and systemic oppression. My work centers on helping individuals acknowledge and heal from painful experiences, reconnect with their inner strength, and move toward the life they deserve.
I grew up in a rural community, and over the past seven years, I’ve provided services across three major metropolitan cities, giving me a deep appreciation for the diversity of human experience and the ways culture, environment, and community shape our lives. As a first-generation college and graduate student, I understand the resilience it takes to forge your own path. These personal experiences—along with my identity as a neurodivergent, LGBTQ+ therapist—inform my commitment to creating a space that is affirming, inclusive, and grounded in authenticity.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that you are the expert of your own story. Therapy isn’t about labeling or fixing you—it’s about creating a space where you feel seen, supported, and challenged in ways that foster growth and making the changes that YOU want to make. My role is varied dependent on what you need, sometimes it is to walk alongside you, challenge you, support you, encourage you, empower you, provide you with resources/skills, all as you rediscover your resilience, build motivation, and create meaningful change.
I draw from humanistic and intersectional-feminist frameworks, integrating a blend of evidence-based, trauma-focused, and creative practices such as:
• Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
• Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
• Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
• Mindfulness, art-based, and somatic interventions
My career has included working in leading trauma recovery programs at Emory University School of Medicine, Henry Ford Health System Trauma Recovery Center, and Advocate Masonic Trauma Recovery Center where I provided therapy, supervision, and training on trauma-informed and culturally responsive care. I also serve as a clinical supervisor and consultant for other providers, supporting the next generation of trauma-informed clinicians.
My practice is rooted in culturally affirming, anti-oppressive, and inclusive care—welcoming and honoring all identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Together, we’ll identify what healing and growth look like for you, and develop an approach that feels empowering, collaborative, and deeply personal.
Outside of my work, I’m married and share life with my adorable corgi, who often reminds me of the importance of play and presence. I love painting, trying new crafts, tending to my plants, spending time with friends, and engaging in volunteer and advocacy work.
If you’re ready to begin processing trauma, navigating loss, or simply finding new ways to cope and thrive, I’d be honored to support you. Let’s connect.
